According to the EFSA reports:

• DHA in children aged 2-18 years (intake of 250 mg / day in the food) contributes to the normal development of the brain
• EFSA advises its presence in infant formulas and follow-on formulas (20-50 mg / 100 kcal) 2 and in the diet of children aged 7 to 24 months (100 mg / day) 1,3, to help brain and visual development.
• For the period from 2 to 18 years, EFSA considers that the recommendation of DHA should be consistent with that of the adult population (250 mg DHA + EPA) 3.

The WHO, the Foundation for British Nutrition and the Pediatric Society of Gastroenterology and European Nutrition (ESPGHAN) recommend that formulas for neonates are enriched with DHA, to ensure the correct development of the brain.

During childhood, studies reveal the importance of DHA for neuronal development and psychomotor development. Its benefit has also been demonstrated for children with attention dèficit, hyperactivity disorder, eczema, asthma and allergies, as well as for children with dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism.
