You can take them sweet or salty, but oat flakes will always be an essential complement to a healthy and nutritious diet.

Oatmeal is one of the richest cereals in protein, fat (80% of the total is unsaturated and Omega 6 abounds), carbohydrates, vitamin B1 or thiamin (which favors the proper functioning of the nervous system) and fiber. It also contains minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron.

Like the rest of edible cereals, oats belong to the grass family, which is one of the most important for human nutrition. Its fruits are dry grains rich in starch, a complex carbohydrate that is a source of energy for our body.

Benefits for the body

Oatmeal has a toning and balancing effect on the nervous system, so its consumption is suitable in case of nervousness, fatigue or asthenia, insomnia and stress situations. This fact is due to its starch content (which releases glucose in the body, the main fuel for the nervous system), essential fatty acids (linoleic acid), lecithin, phosphorus, vitamin B1 and avenin, the latter substance with a sedative action.

In case of digestive disorders, its supply of mucilage softens the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract and is highly digestible. Its consumption is beneficial when gastritis and ulcers occur in the remission stage, as well as in other digestive conditions. Due to its content of unsaturated fats, avenasterol, fiber and lecithin, substances that help reduce blood cholesterol levels, oats help control cardiovascular risks.

Oatmeal also improves the quality of the skin, since its particles absorb dirt and cellular waste while respecting and caring for the skin's structure. The phosphorus it contains reduces the hardness of the water, which translates into a softening and relaxing action. Being composed of lipids and water-absorbing substances, it prevents skin dehydration.

This cereal helps the digestive system work better and promotes a feeling of satiety, which is important when it comes to managing body weight. Thus, it helps to lose weight, since it also stimulates the elimination of toxins. Its soluble fiber absorbs water, toxins and excess cholesterol that circulates in the blood. On the other hand, it helps regulate blood pressure, due to its low sodium content and high potassium content. It also helps control blood sugar levels.

Thanks to its high content of vitamin B1, the consumption of oats helps to overcome stress and depression. It is highly recommended during periods of pregnancy or lactation and also after operations or during periods of convalescence, since in these periods there is an increase in the wear of this vitamin. Vitamin B6 makes oatmeal highly recommended for diabetes, depression, and asthma. Additionally, the vitamin B6 in this food helps prevent heart disease and may reduce carpal tunnel symptoms. Finally, its high content of vitamin K makes oatmeal beneficial for blood coagulation and bone metabolism.

Oat flakes are very tasty and easy to chew. They are grains previously steamed and rolled in a machine that crushes the grain. They have the nutritional properties of any cereal, although energetically they lack the robustness and consistency of the grain, so their use should not replace cereal grains, but only be a complement. MIMASA organic oat flakes are made from 100% clean organic oats, husked, oven-dried, steamed, rolled and dried.

Traditionally, oat flakes are eaten for breakfast. If you want salty, MIMASA organic oat flakes are boiled with water or vegetable broth and you can add MIMASA seaweed, vegetables, onion, leeks, etc. They can be seasoned with MIMASA organic tamari-shoyu or MIMASA organic tamari-shoyu. If you want sweets, once the flakes are boiled you can add MIMASA rice syrup, sugar, honey or any other sweetener. The proportion of liquid in cooking is three or four parts of it for one part of MIMASA organic oat flakes. Cooking can vary between 5 and 20 minutes, depending on whether you want it to be more or less crispy.

Another proposal is to combine MIMASA organic oat flakes with fruit. In doing so, the polyphenols in oats work in concert with other vitamins in the fruit such as vitamin C, increasing antioxidant power and thus offering greater protection against heart disease.

100% organic clean oatmeal, husked, air-dried oven, steamed, soggy by rollers and dried.
